Rainer Hosch was born in Vienne, Austria. His father, Heinz, was a renowned photojournalist who gave his son his first camera on his 8th birthday. The younger Hosch developed a strong interest in photography and by high school he decided to turn his passion into a profession, studying his craft at the Graphic Institute in Vienna, and UCLA.
Hosch shoots for Magazines such as GQ, Interview, Wired, LA Weekly, Esquire, I-D, Flair, Muse, Men’s Fitness and L’Uomo Vogue.
His ability to catch both celebrities and unknown subjects in a charismatic and characteristic light has also secured him advertising, assignments for Microsoft, Nike, Nespresso, HP, Pravda and Xbox. Best known for his distinctive frame-filling B&W portraits, Hosch’s color repertoire expands his appeal, which branches into reportage as well as environmental/architecture and still life.
